Dr. Giuseppe Marinari has about 30 years of experience in Bariatric Surgery performing over 5000 bariatric procedures. He was mentored by Prof. N. Scopinaro at University Hospital in Genoa, Italy, who created the the biliopancreatic diversion (with or without duodenal switch), a malabsorptive operation. Dr. Marinari is now Director of the Bariatric Center. He has an international experience and is one of the leading surgeons in his field. He performs both restrictive and malabsorptive procedures mainly with the laparoscopic approach, and about 15% of its activity is redo surgery, that is revisional surgery for failed bariatric procedures. Since 2013 Dr. Marinari adopted fast track procedures applied to bariatric, with a very low readmission rate. In our Humanitas Hospital patients are treated by a Multi-disciplinary team (dietitian, psychologist, surgeon) and Fast Track protocols have evolved to ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) Bariatric Surgery, improving the benefits for the patient, in term of faster recovery and early return to daily activities. The patient is given full attention and support throughout all the steps along the treatment.
